"When we started the event in 2005 no one had a clue what we were doing and for a long time people did not understand what this was all about and why we were doing this". Over one hundred guys from all over the world are heading this way to celebrate, mingle, make friends, explore the country and have fun, making it a record in number of participants. So writes Frosti Jonsson, one of the planners of the event.

The dates BEARS ON ICE 2013 event is September 5-8. This four day event will kick off with an Opening Party on Thursday September 5th. On Friday we´ll go on a Geothermal sight seeing tour to see shooting geysers and Iceland´s most beautiful waterfall and Friday night we´ll make sure everyone will get their top off at the BEARS ON ICE Furry Friday party. We will also go on a trip to the world famous geothermal Blue Lagoon and in the evening we´ll make sure everyone dances their ass off at the Saturday Central Party. BEARS ON ICE finishes with Sunday Farewell Brunch. In addition we´ll be throwing in some extras to be revealed when you are here!

"The most common definition of a bear is a gay man who is hairy, has facial hair and a cuddly body. However, the word “bear” means many things to different people, even within the bear movement, according to Frosti Jónsson, one of the organizers of BEARS ON ICE. “A Bear is often defined as more of an attitude than anything else – a sense of comfort with our natural masculinity and bodies and not being slaves to the fashion industry that is so common in gay circles and the culture at large,” he explains to us in a calm manner."
