Blær Bjarkardóttir (Blaer) won before the District Court and legally gets to keep her name. The Minister of the Interior has confirmed that the ruling will not be appealed, and the laws regarding the Icelandic Naming Committee might be changed. Blaer celebrated the ruling with her friends and family.

"We feel incredibly good. Me and my daughter cannot wipe the smile of our faces. Blær has always been her name but now there has been a vindication and she has cleared the path for future women named Blær", says Björk Eiðsdóttir, mother to Blær.

Blær celebrated the ruling with her friends and family and the following pictures were taken by her mother on this memorable day.

The girl that has always worn her name with dignity and pride finally got a legal confirmation. She found this day quite good.

Grandmother and grandfather gave her The Blær Cup, imprinted and for her to keep. It has been put at a worthy location.

The friends showed up to celebrate the victory.

During the evening we celebrated at the restaurant Uno. We received warm welcomes.

The sign reads: "Congratulations Blær".

Björk Eiðsdóttir gave News of Iceland permission to publish the pictures.
