Gunnar "Gunni" Nelson, Icelandic MMA fighter from Mjölnir fightclub did an excellent job at his first UFC fight, in Nottingham England. Gunnar Nelson choked out DaMarques Johnson in the first round.

Annie Thorisdottir was crowned the fittest woman on earth

Annie Thorisdottir was crowned the fittest woman on earth after four months of competition, which finished with the 2011 Reebok Crossfit Games. Annie earned her title after beating the 50 female finalists from the initial field of over 10 thousand women, over the course of ten workouts at the Reebok Crossfit Games, which took place from July 29th-31st at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California. In addition to the title, she won $250,000.

Rich Froning Jr. and Annie Thorisdottir have earned the 2012 titles of Fittest Man and Woman on Earth for the second consecutive year at the sixth annual CrossFit Games. 

The Icelandic U-20 National Ice hockey team has done very well at its first two games at the world championship in Serbia. The boys beat Belgium 4-2 Yesterday and Australia 5-3 today.

Ouray Ice Climbing Championship in Colorado

Róbert Halldórsson and Berglind Aðalsteinsdóttir competed at a Ice Climbing contest in Ouray Colorado this January. 25 elite climbers were in enrolled in the competition and they had 12 minutes to climb a 30 meter (98 feet) tall ice wall.

Júlían J. K. Jóhannsson did not manage to win the Nordic Powerlifting Championship even though he broke two Icelandic records in his age group. The reason is that all three of his squats were deemed invalid, which meant that he could not get a valid total score.

Gunnar Nelson is said to be fighting Mike Pyle at the UFC 160 that takes place on May 25th at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Crossfit Open WOD 13.3 will officially finish tonight. Many athletes have turned in their scores already though. Iceland Annie Thorisdottir did Open WOD 13.3 both last Thursday and yesterday (Saturday). Her logged score was 259 reps, which places her overall (so far) 4th in the World and second in Europe.
