Young Icelandic master chef, Garðar Kári Garðarsson will compete in desert making at the Nordic Chef Congress 2013 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The competition is called Global Pastry Chef and takes place next weekend.
Beer drinking has been legal in Iceland since 1989. Many Icelanders love drinking beer and many new Icelandic brands have been created in the last few years.
One of the world's best burger joints is in Iceland according to the website departures.com. Hamborgarafabrikkan (The hamburger factory) is on a list where the 11 best burger joints worldwide are announced. On the website they say that Hamborgarafabrikkan is known for the clever names of its burgers and for how delicious they taste.
Sólveig Eiríksdóttir, better known as Solla in Gló or just Solla, is considered among the best raw food chefs in the world. She cooks for Hollywood stars, plays with her grandchild and works on her gardening. She has for example received awards at the Best of Raw contest and was voted 'Favorite Raw Gourmet Chef' and 'Favorite Raw Simple Chef'.
The skyr cake is very similar to a cheese cake but instead of cheese, skyr is used. Skyr is a very popular milk product in Iceland and has more proteins than most other milk products. It is similar to yogurt, but a bit thicker.
