"Signed up for the Miss Iceland competition. Ask for the votes of those who endorse large and imposing women - chubby all over, splay-footed and very hairy", Björk said on her Facebook page (loosely translated) and referred to a famous Icelandic song by Laddi with her last comment.
Björk Vilhelmsdóttir just joined a bunch of other Icelanders and especially feminists, that intend to protest the competition by signing up for it. Many have expressed their disappointment and shock over the fact that in the 21st century, women are still competing in looks/beauty.
Plan to let their armpit hairs grow for the competition
Writer and actress Þórdís Elva Þorvaldsdóttir wrote on her facebook page:
"Well. What do you say we let our armpits hairs grow for the Miss Iceland contest..."
"Can't we receive a prize for beautiful hair? #already-signed-up"
