The mayor published the follwoing photo on his Facebook page and wrote: "Dear Future. Here we come!"
Brand came to Iceland last Monday and had his show in Harpa concert hall on both Monday and Tuesday nights. Mayor Jón Gnarr was amongst the audience on Tuesday and seemed to enjoy himself. Incidentally Brand mentioned Jón shortly in his stand-up where he pointed it out as an example of how crazy Icelanders were that the city mayor was a comedian.
The City of Reykjavík published on their website that it was Russell Brand that requested a meeting with the mayor. The two had a two hour long meeting and talked about various subjects after which Brand interviewed Jón Gnarr. After the meeting Brand left for Keflavík International airport from where he flew back home to England.
