Football Team Cleans Snow off Field so they can train
Football players from Völsungur Húsavík plan to start playing and training outdoors soon. But even though spring is coming in Reykjavík, many towns in the north of Iceland are still half covered with snow. Like Húsavík, where Völsungur football team is located.
Powerlifter Audunn Jonsson deadlift world champion
Audunn Jonsson, powerlifter from Breidablik, became the world champion in deadlift.
The 2012 IPF world men's and women powerlifting championship was held in Puerto Rico on the 29th of October - 4th of November. On the last day of the world championship, Audunn Jonsson from Iceland deadlifted 362,5 kg (799.176 lbs) and received the world championship in deadlifting.

New York Post has high expectations for Gunnar Nelson
The New York Post places Gunnar Nelson in eight place for fighters who could excel in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) in 2013. The Post says that it is not impossible that Gunnar goes for the world championship next year.
The New York Post mentions that Gunnar Nelson has won 10 fights and is still unbeaten. His next fight is against Justin Edwards in mid February in England, at the Wembley Arena in London.
Archery at the Reykjavik International games
Archery has been a part of the Reykjavík International Games since 2011. The tournament is according to FITA regulations with recurve and compound bows. 2 x 30 arrows are shot and then the 8 highest scores in each group will shoot head to head (12 arrows) matches until we have result. FITA triple target is used for compound bows but 40 cm targets for the recurve bows.

The table tennis tournament of the Reykjavik International Games started in 2011. It is a great honor for Table Tennis Club Vikingur to organize an exciting tournament and to have the opportunity to do its best to make the table tennis tournament of the Reykjavik International Games unforgettable.
Dance at the Reykjavik International games
There will be three dance competitions this weekend. The main event is the RIG WDSF International Latin Open, which will be held on Saturday evening. During Saturday and Sunday there will be a RIG competition for all ages, but as always we start with the youngest. There will be 7 international WDSF adjudicators judging the dancing this weekend along with an international chairman.
Gymnastics at the Reykjavik International games
Gymnastics have been a part of The Reykjavík International Games since 2008. The tournament has varied in form, sometimes an Artistic gymnastic competition and sometimes a Teamgym competition with strong Icelandic and foreign teams participating. The tournament will be held in Laugardalur Sports Hall. This year it will be held by Ármann, one of Iceland’s oldest Gymnastic clubs, with technical support from the Icelandic Gymnastic Federation.
Athletics at the Reykjavik International games
The Reykjavík International Games or RIG as they are more commonly known, have been an international athletic event since 2006 when the initial meeting was held to celebrate the opening of Laugardalshöll Athletic Arena. Its opening amplified the optimism and stirred up expectations of athletics in the entire country. The arena brought huge improvements in track and field which resulted in an almost twofold increase in the annual count of new national records over the previous years. Over the years athletes from other Nordic countries, Europe and even as far as the Caribbean have elevated the meeting with their participation.

The Judo Federation of Iceland is celebrating its 40 years anniversary in January 2013. In collaboration with the RIG (Reykjavik International Games), a multi sport event to be held from 17 th to 27th of January, we will have OPEN JUDO TOURNAMENT for men and women on the 19th of January from 10 - 4 pm.
