Iceland can still make it to the World Cup as 4 matches are left in the preliminary round, but everything has to go according to plan.
Switzerland is currently leading Group E with 14 points where Albania is second with 10 points. Iceland is third with 9 points and Norway fourth with 8 points. Switzerland is the way strongest team in this group and has won 4 matches and made two draws. They have scored 8 goals and received 1 from these six games.
Iceland and Switzerland met before in Reykjavík last October were the Swiss won 2-0.
Iceland lost against Slovenia in Reykjavik this summer, 4-2. Gylfi Sigurdsson (Tottenham) was suspended and couldn't play that game but will be playing tonight and next week.
Iceland is now hoping for second place in group E and a spot in the World Cup and would then have to win Albania next Tuesday and a draw (or win) tonight would be optimal.
