He got emails, social security numbers and SMS messages. The text messages are personal, and some of the messages are between ministers and members of parliament. Some of the text messages were quite damaging for the Progressive Party for example, where they talk about secret meetings with The Federation of Icelandic Fishing Vessel Owners and other things. The credit card number of the minister of foreign affairs was also put online. It was in one of the text messages. The minister is a member of the Progressive Party.
Many of the text messages between people were of sexual nature and they can be found online. This computer attack has therefore had a quite large impact. Passwords for people's Vodafone personal accounts were also hacked, so people were urged to change passwords immediately, on all accounts that use the same email address, including Facebook and other social media accounts.
The CEO of Vodafone says that he will not resign. The managers of Vodafone were however questioned by the police because of the leak, and this is taken seriously by the police. MP's have mentioned that Vodafone stored text messages longer than is allowed by Icelandic laws, and they are considering to sue Vodafone because of this.
