She said this in her speech when candidates were being graduated in Reykjavik yesterday. Rector said that it is required to increased interest in these fields among children and teenagers, sooner than now is done.
The number of students in computer sciences and in software engineering at the University of Iceland has quadrupled during the past four years, and the number of chemistry students has tripled.
The number of students in physics and mathematics has also increased. Rector welcomed this development in her speech and said that even more has to be done to strengthen these fields.
