Tourists Stranded on a Floating Iceberg

Search and rescue teams in south-east Iceland were called to Fjallsárlón glacier lake in south Iceland (close to the famous Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon) to rescue four tourists that were stranded on a floating iceberg on the lake.

The tourists were observing the lake and decided to jump on a floating iceberg that was close to land (at that time!). Soon after they got on the iceberg started floating away from land. One of the tourists managed to jump to land but the other four floated away, far enough so they didn't feel like swimming back to shore (in the freezing water). The iceberg was floating some 10 meters away from land.

Farmers in the area own a small boat that is used on the lake to move confused sheep around, and the plan is to contact them. A boat was also sent from Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon

Update:

The people wanted to dine out on the iceberg

The people have been saved and nobody was harmed. As it turns out, the tourists were Americans and they decided to bring chairs and a table out on the iceberg to dine out. When the wind suddenly changed directions, the iceberg moved further out and the people were stuck. The tourists were still calm and waiting patiently to be rescued.

Icebergs are very risky and dangerous as you never know where they might flight or if or when they will flip over.
