Archery is a young sport in Iceland. It was first in 1974 with the founding of sport clubs for disabled in Reykjavík and Akureyri that regular practice of the sport started. But even though those two clubs practice archery it does not mean that all the archers in the clubs are disabled, it has always been a mixture and both groups have worked well together through the years. Today there are 5 archery clubs in Iceland.
The archery competition will take place at the IFR Sports Hall on January 26th from 9am-5pm.
The Nordic Archery Championship has been held twice in Iceland, 1985 and 1997, and in 1985 Elísabet Vilhjálmsson won silver in the women´s disabled category
