"If the picture is clear one can see the nice scarf that I was given before I went to Sochi" said Illugi Gunnarsson, minister of education, science and culture. He is attending the Winter Olympics 2014 in Sochi and he was at the opening ceremony yesterday.

Samtokin '78 gave the scarf to Illugi before he went to Russia. Samtökin '78 is the Icelandic Lesbian and Gay organisation. It provides counselling, social gatherings, holds dances and is a member of the Reykjavík pride parade committee. The organization gave the minister a bag full of gifts, intended to promote gay rights in Sochi. The bag contained for example a gay pride flag and a scarf in the same colors.

The scarf can be seen on the photo here above. The Icelandic flag bearer, Sævar Birgisson, can also be seen on the photo. He is a cross country skier, and he will be the first of the Icelandic contestants to compete this year.
