Icelanders keep moving to Norway

The population of Iceland at the end of the 1st quarter 2014 was 326,340, 163,660 males and 162,680 females. The population increased by 720 from the previous quarter. Foreign citizens were 23,060 by the end of the 1st quarter 2014.

Icelanders are moving back home as the country recovers

The number of immigrants exceeds the number of emigrants for the first time since 2008. Net external migration was 1,598 in 2013 compared with -319 in 2012. The number of immigrants was 7,071 in 2013 compared with 5,957 in 2012. At the same time the number of emigrants declined from 6,276 in 2012 to 5,473 in 2013.
