Aviation workers back to work. KEF Airport reopened after Strike

Airport workers at Keflavik International Airport were on a temporary strike this morning from 4-9 am. Their action resulted in a 3-4 hour delay of outbound flights and the airport was very busy this morning.

Workers are back to work... for now

Seven airplanes coming in from the USA and Canada had to be delayed a few hours, as well as a couple of planes from WOW Air and Easy Jet coming in from Europe. Most of those planes landed in Keflavik shortly after 9 am this morning, making the airport extremely busy for a few hours.

Airport workers, demanding a higher salary, will attend the next negotiation meeting this week. The next temporary strikes are scheduled for April 23rd and 25th, by The Icelandic Aviation Association. If an agreement will not have been reached, a comprehensive strike will begin on April 30th.
