Icelandic super band Of Monsters and Men has gone platinum in the USA with their debut album My Head is an Animal. The album has now sold over one million copies. This is the sixth platinum record for OMAM.
Of Monsters and Men received a platinum certification of their debut album, 2011’s My Head Is an Animal, which has sold one million copies in the U.S., according to the Recording Industry Association of America. The album which includes the hits "Little Talks" and "Mountain Sound", debuted in the #6 slot on the Billboard 200 album chart, selling 55,000 copies its first week out.
Björk is the only other Icelandic artist to have gone platinum in the USA. Of Monsters and Men have gone platinum in five other countries: Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Iceland. The band has now sold over 27 thousand copies in Iceland - double platinum. They will most likely go triple platinum here sooner than later.
Of Monsters and Men is currently back in Iceland working on ideas for their sophomore album.
