Helga Margrét Clarke and Audrey Freyja Clarke, better known as members of the music band Sister Sister, started a duo one year ago when they wrote the song Desire for a short film. Not long after they made a music video to Desire in Heiðmörk one of their favorite places around Reykjavík. Since then they have made 8 new songs and a new music video, they also released their promo album in the end of 2013.
They grew up surrounded by music, as both parents are musicians. Their father is British and came to North Iceland when he saw a position at the music school advertised for a violin teacher and who else but their mother was his student! Of course their father with his British accent seduced their mother, a young and innocent Icelandic girl, and of course she understood little what he said but who needs language when the language of love is spoken.
Both sisters have got English names, Audrey got a her first name after their British grandmother and Helga´s second name is Margaret or Margrét in Icelandic. They lived in Manchester for a year as kids but their parents decided to move back to Iceland though they would have wanted to stay for a longer time themselves.
They have just added a cajon drum and a second piano to their band, you would think they needed extra people…but they are both singing, both playing the piano and Audrey plays the cajon drum. They have been playing mostly in Akureyri and Reykjavík since they started, next two gigs are in Reykjavík at Café Rosenberg tomorrow, 10th of May and at Kryddlegin Hjörtu restaurant 1st of June, in between concerts they will be recording new songs in studio.
