Iceland 5th in Europe

Iceland won Poland 28-27 in a dramatic match for 5th place today. Poland was leading the whole time and was up to 4 goals ahead. Iceland never managed to break the barrier, until the very end. When only 18 seconds were left, Rúnar Kárason scored the winner, leaving the Polish extremely disappointed.

"I was hot during the game and then it's easier to go for it at the last minute. Luckily it went in", said Rúnar Kárason after the game.

Snorri Steinn Guðjónsson was the best Icelander in the match, scoring 8 goals.

Coach Aron Kristjánsson was happy about 5th place, especially considering that many leading players were injured. He was also happy about many young players who managed to step up and with the overall concentration and will of the team.
