The University Council recently approved a new Equality Policy for 2013-2017. The new policy focuses on equality in a broad sense, as it replaces three former foundations for equality at the university.
The Equality Policy guidelines for 2013-2017 are to ensure all students and staff of the University of Iceland equal rights and standing and to promote active participation of all within the university community.
The main goals of the policy are:
• To ensure mainstreaming of equality with all university work
• To support diversity at the University of Iceland
• To take equality into account when organising study, teaching and in research
• To take equality into account in all administrative work
The Equal Rights Committee of the University of Iceland will present the new Equal Rights Policy on the 9th of April from 12pm-1pm. The presentation will be in Icelandic. Everyone is welcome.
