Around 66.000 tourists left Iceland via Keflavik International Airport last month. This is an increase of 17.300 people compared to March last year, or a 35,3% increase. This is stated in an announcement from the Icelandic Tourist Board.
Most of the visitors were British, or 31.9 of the total number of visitors. Americans came second, 18.5% of the total number. Norwegians were in third place (5.3%), then Germans (5.2%), French (4.5%), Danes (4.2%), Canadians (3.5%), Swedes (2.9%), Dutch (2.8%) and Japanese tourists (2.4%). The ten nationions mentioned here made up 81.2% of the total number of visitors in March.
A total of 165.232 tourists have visited Iceland this year, which is an increase by 43.000 tourists between years.
